Last night I was just surfing the web and watching Conan and then I noticed the musical guest was about to perform. Cool, who is on tonight? The All American Rejects ……..ok sure ….whatever. Music starts and I look up and W T F! Why is the singer not wearing a shirt? Why is the singer on the floor being all dramatic? Why do I feel like I’m watching John Stamos perform with “Jesse and the Rippers” ?
Needless to say I was pretty floored with the massive amount of “cheese” going on. Maybe “Fakeness” would be a better word. It looked like I was watching a fake TV band of actors trying to pull off how a real band would perform and like always….getting it totally wrong. BUT, sadly…….that was not the case. The All American Rejects are a real band. That first hit they had in 2001 I really liked. It was beyond catchy and released on Doghouse Records. You remember the awesome releases Doghouse had in the late 90’s right? On a side note: (more than likely a Major record company was trying to give them some street cred and made it appear Doghouse released the record but had a Major pumping loads of money into marketing, videos, and radio. Basically the same thing Fall Out Boy had done with Fueled By Ramen but it was really an Island/Def Jam release). Yeah……street cred man.
So can you tell I’m very unimpressed? Maybe even disgusted? SIGH….One last thing before you watch. If your gonna hire back up singers… make sure they know how to sing first. I (WE) would much rather hear a sample track!
I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!
