They (Blankface) were one of our favorite bands from NC and we are so excited to share the stage with them once again. Uzzard will be opening the show and they are super heavy and probably our favorite band in our hometown right now.

We’re working on lining up some special guests for the reunion show and will be pulling out a lot of the older songs we haven’t played in many years.

Codeseven will be playing more shows this fall in other areas of the country (probably not in NC though) but with a shorter set and probably not as many older songs. Details on those dates coming in the following weeks. So if you’re planning a road trip from another state just a heads up but for the full experience then Greensboro is what you want to see.

According to Billboard.com the Rock Band Network is set to open some time today. No confirmation from Harmonix or MTV just yet and many rumors had been swirling that the network would be revealed next week at SXSW. A post from the official Rock Band twitter accounts tells followers to stay tuned for a big announcement later today.

So what is the Rock Band network? Well, Rock Band basically gave out all of the same tools they use build and mix songs into the game to anyone willing to sign-up for a developers license and hopefully a little bit of audio engineering background. These new developers can now offer their services to any band or label seeking to have their music in the game. One of these authoring companies is Rock God Games who is comprised of touring musicians and studio owners.

“We’ve spent the last 15 years working as full-time musicians touring with the now defunct band Codeseven (Equal Vision Records). During that time frame we built our own studio and have been recording various bands and our own side projects. We know music and the music biz better than anyone and working with the Rock Band Network has been very natural and fun for us. All of those hours of transcribing music as a kid has really paid off now” – Rock God Games

Rock God Games offers a discount rate for unsigned artists at $574 a song and for signed artist start a $250 setup fee and $175 a minute of music with rates going down the more songs you have authored. Other authoring houses like Tunecore start out at $999 a song and will be upping that price to $2500 soon according to their website.

For Rock Band fans you will now have a plethora of new music to choose from which will be consistently uploaded daily. Currently there is 119 songs to choose from in the network and 300 more just waiting in the wings. Well known artist like “Steve Via” or “The Shins” all the way down to your average local band will be available for download.  Prices will range from $1 -$3 bucks (MS credits will be used to actually purchase the song) which the artist or label will determine from song to song. You will also be able to search and sort for songs by genre, label, author and all the way down to the “difficulty” level.  Before you buy you can download a free demo of the track to see if you like it, which I think will be 30 to 60 seconds of the song.

Will unsigned bands be discovered? Can this new format possibly save the music industry? It’s hard to say but it all looks very promising and could add some significant revenue for all the struggling record labels. Offering a rock band track with the purchase of an album? Wow the possibilities could be endless!

According to Paste, Frontman Jónsi Birgisson recently told Spinner, “We haven’t got another [Sigur Rós] album ready. It was just a rumor. We started to record something, but then we chucked it all away. So I think we are going to have to start it all again.”

So now that the band has some free time, the question now is how to fill it. Easy, make some babies, duh! For vocalist Jonsi, his baby is a new solo project slated to come out this spring. Check out the track below from his upcoming solo album.

Now the first trailer released many months ago looked like a typical documentary about the struggles and achievements of making wine in Arizona. The second trailer released a few days ago, has me a little confused and excited. It features Bob Odenkirk, Patton Oswalt, Milla Jovovich and it’s quite funny in a Mockumentary kind of way.

“U2 will stream one of their forthcoming US stadium shows live on YouTube.

The concert takes place at the Pasadena Rose Bowl in California on Sunday, Oct. 25.

The band’s manager Paul McGuinness said that as the gig is already being filmed, it was “the perfect opportunity to extend the party beyond the stadium.”

It is only the second time a live gig has been streamed on YouTube. In August, segments of the Outside Lands festival in San Francisco were streamed via the site.

YouTube have said adverts would be placed around the video “in the normal manner,” and that clips from the concert would be available on the site after the live broadcast.

The site will also offer viewers the ability to chat to one another using Twitter and donate to the AIDS charity (RED) while they watch the show.

McGuinness said that U2 had “wanted to do something like this for a long time.” He added, “Fans often travel long distances to come to see U2 — this time U2 can go to them, globally.”

It may be the first time U2 has been live on YouTube, but U2 are no newcomers to the world of streamed concerts. In 1997, one of the US shows on their PopMart tour was streamed on MSN. ”

Personally I’m getting a little tired of U2 at this point. They are always over hyped and we need a break from the recent stench.

A few days ago Thom Yorke announced he had a new band put together on the Radiohead blog Dead Air Space. I have to admit, I didn’t pay much attention to it. He already did a solo record a few years ago “The Eraser” and the bit I heard online was that he would be doing some tracks from this. Well I really should have paid more attention.

Flea is in the band? Crazy but this is just the backing band for Thom and they are just doing Eraser material right? Well that’s what I thought until you read this line:

at the beginning of october the 4th and 5th we are going to do a couple of shows at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. we don’t really have a name and the set will not be very long cuz ..well …we haven’t got that much material yet! but come and check it out if you are in the area. we’ve also got locals Lucky Dragons playing.all the best
